Seule œuvre (en tout cas d'après mes recherches) de 王子健 Wang Zijian, cet album est, comme le décrit si bien le label, un mélange inclassable hors du temps au carrefour entre freak folk et trip-hop. Le spoken word poétique utilisé par l'artiste fait passer un sentiment de nostalgie indescriptible — et ce alors même qu'il chante dans sa langue natale — qui me rappelle celui dans Anastasis de Dead Can Dance.

This, friends, is my only reported “favorite album of 2021.” This album- granted, an anthology- has so many textures. I noted in a 3-track ‘spanse being reminded of Four Tet (albeit beatless), Trepaningritualen (plus harmonica), and Acid Mothers Temple (sans guitar). The Sonologyst is a curatorial genius. Creativity rules this world.
